About

I’m a socio-political news junkie corrupted by a 1.5-year stint as a culture & entertainment reporter. Add to that growing up, as the book-loving geek I still am, in a family of professional athletes (father, mother, aunts, uncles, brother, cousins) and you’ll better understand the end result: a messy jumble of ideas and interests that sometimes need a map to figure out — hence the ‘labyrinth’ in the title.

  4. Hi Sarah,

My name is Rehan and I am a co-host of a radio show of a local radio station in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I normally co-host a show called Asian Connections which goes out for an hour every Monday evening at 9pm GMT. I talk about issues dealing with not only with the local community but also on international issues – (for example I’ve interviewed a Professor of Politics on International Relations who spoke about China’s burgeoning economy. I’ve also spoken to issues pertaining to the recent constitutional crisis in Sri Lanka and other subjects.

I was emailing you and ask if you’d be interested in a live phone interview speaking about what is going on Cairo, (and other places around Egypt), as you’d be able to give a live, eye-witness account of the revolution happening just now in Egypt for next Monday’s show.

However, I’m filling in for another show tomorrow afternoon, called Leith Talk, from 2pm-4.30pm (GMT), and was wondering, I know it’s short notice, but if you’d be interested in a live phone interview tomorrow instead if possible? I know Egypt is 2 hours ahead of UK GMT time, so I was thinking if you’re able to do it tomorrow, maybe having the interview around 3pm GMT – (5pm Egypt UTC time) – or if you wanted to do my normal Monday night show then that time would be 9.15pm GMT – (11.15pm Egypt UTC Time).

Although the station is broadcast around Edinburgh on 98.8FM, the station can be heard around the world online at http://www.leithfm.co.uk/listen and we have listeners all over the world who tune in online from California to Japan.

If you’re interested please feel free to email me and I can send you the details of number of the station, more details etc.

Thanks for your time and hope you’re doing well.

    Best wishes,
    Rehan

  5. Dear Sarah,

I’ve been reading and watching videos about your protest.
RESPECT! For you and your people.

I am a tech reporter from The Times of India, and most of us here are intrigued with the way your people have effectively used social media for this historic revolution.

I want to write about your story and am hoping you will answer a few questions:

    1. How has the Internet and social media contributed to this mass protest gathering? To what extent has it helped?
    2. How have you used social media for your protest?
    3. How are you currently accessing the Internet?
    4. How did you feel when the Internet was blocked/censored?
    5. Even Google has come forward to support your movement with speak2tweet. What do you think?

    Tx and rgds,
    Mahafreed
